At the Bell Repòs, as a sustainable hotel we are committed to local products such as honey from the Ridaura Valley.
Within the framework of our sustainability philosophy, we are very happy to establish alliances with local suppliers and producers to help in the economic viability of the project and also for its dissemination.
In this case we present our collaboration with Josep Mª Bas and his honey made entirely in the Ridaura Valley.
Few things are as good and healthy as fresh homemade honey from Km.0 and from now on you can buy it at the Hotel Bell Repòs in Platja d’Aro, a sustainable hotel.
“Vall del Ridaura” honey was born from a personal project by Josep Maria Bas, which began in 2019.
Motivated by the interest that Josep has always had in animal-plant interactions and especially in the mutualism of plant pollination, he decides to start with the production and packaging of fresh local honey.
“Vall del Ridaura” honey is collected in two beehives (apiaries) located in the municipality of Castell d’Aro and it is a honey that comes from the nectar that bees collect from many flowers (hence the name milflores honey) in the same valley.
It is a natural and raw honey that is packaged directly, without intermediaries, of extreme quality and with a local circuit of proximity products.
It is collected mainly at the end of spring and also to a lesser extent in autumn, in two or three different combs.
The honey bee (Apis mellifera) is a colonial species and is one of the many species of insects that participate in something as important as pollination.
As a reserve so that the bees can spend the summer and winter without problems, a good amount of honey is left in the colonies, so that they do not have problems maintaining the colony at a time like the present when we suffer a threatening shortage of honey resources.
